Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with former coach his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden championship after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since that period of that year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

His retrieving play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his skill to play at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and perform assertively, supported by an improved serve.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

The competitors traded breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

He rescued 4 initial break points in a close final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner secured the win with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
